i will say one thing and one thing only about CBS’ elementary

(and i have my roommate to thank for pointing this out)
i don’t care that watson’s a girl. what’s lame is that, chances are, CBS felt this was the only way to be able to romantically involve sherlock and watson throughout the series to create UST.
i picture the execs having the following conversation:
“romance sells! sex sells! we need to bring sex to the story of sherlock!”
“let’s do it! but how? in the ACD canon, there are lots of women characters but we’re too lazy to flesh any of them out sooooo let’s just make watson a girl!”
“perfect! now sherlock and watson can be romantically involved because they are going to be a heterosexual couple.”
